Question
The drawing shows three different resistors in two different circuits. The battery has a voltage of V = 27 V, and the resistors have resistances of R1 = 50.0 , R2 = 25.0 and R3 = 10.0 . Determine the current through and the voltage across each resistor.
The drawing shows three different resistors in two different circuits. The battery has a voltage of V = 27 V, and the resistors have resistances of R1 = 50.0 , R2 = 25.0 and R3 = 10.0 . Determine the current through and the voltage across each resistor.Explanation / Answer
a) R equivalent = 50 + 25 + 10 = 85
I = V/R = 27/85
I1 = I2 = I3 = 0.318 A
V1 = 0.318*50 = 15.88 V
V2 = 0.318*25 = 7.94 V
V3 = 0.318*10 = 3.18 V
b)
V1 = V2 = V3 = 27 V
I1 = 27/50 = 0.54 A
I2 = 27/25 = 1.08 A
I3 = 27/10 = 2.7 A
