Title - The future of good food in China

Speaker - Matilda Ho

China, as the fastest growing country, everyone is in a rush to meet the requirements of the daily living. The same rush is seen in the process and supply of food. In order to meet the need to produce more supply, more chemical and pesticides are added to the crops. In 2016, Half a million food safety violations were found in nine months was exposed by the Chinese government. The rate shows that 1 in every diabetes in the world come from China.

In order to bring a sustainable food system, free from chemicals and pesticide, the speaker launched the first online farmers market to bring the locally grown organic products to the family. 18 months ago there was no fruits and meat to sell as it failed to pass the zero tolerance test (antibiotics, pesticide, hormone, chemical test) set by the company. So they met every local farmer in China and as a result, now they are successful in delivering 2040 products from 57 local farmers. Services are reached within 3hours using electric transportation. They are using biodegradable reuses boxes to minimise environmental footprint. Last year, they developed Chinas first "food tech accelerator and VC " to help the start-ups to shape the future of good food in their terms, where edible insects can be considered as a sustainable source of protein and use essential oils to store foods.

This is a very important topic as the need of food free from pesticide and chemicals is a serious concern all over the world. The chemicals using in crops is harmful to health and can be deadly. It causes serious health problem including cancer, Diabetics, Parkinson's disease, asthma, autism, birth disorders and so more. Respiratory problems and allergies can be an immediate threat. The uses of pesticide in crops, injecting antibiotics and hormone into meat all may pay big consequences in long run.

This is not only the concern of China but the whole world is consuming adultered and poisoned food. So it is important to consume organic food and encourage to buy products from the local farmers using natural manure.

What are the standard for measuring the quality of the product collected from the farmers?

How did the farmers encourage to be a part of the online market?

Also, I would like to know more about the Food tech accelerator and VC. And how it works?

This is definitely a good video with a strong message. I will recommend this video to others to watch because it emphasizes the points on chemical-free food, which is very apt in today's time.

The video done by Molly Winter; "the taboo to secret health" is another takeaway message from Ted talks. The speakers explain about the healthy living by recycling human waste. She talks about how to use human manure and animal manure instead of using chemical fertilizer to the crops.
