Question
A truck of mass 1000 kg has to jump 20 cars.The truck uniformly accelerates from 100 metres away from the top of the ramp to the other ramp on the other side of cars. All cars are 2m wide and 1.5 m tall. The ramps are 3 m high and have a 25 degree slope. Find:
a) What acceleration is needed so that the truck lands on the other ramp?
b) What is the velocity when the truck leaves the ramp?
c) Be specific if the height and angle of the ramp matter?
d) If there was to be a hoop in the centr of the jump, how high does the truck go at its peak?
Explanation / Answer
let velocity be V when it leaves the ramp
so for projectile range = 2*20 = 40m
(V2/g)sin(2*25) = 40
V = 22.6 m/s
velocity when the truck leaves the ramp = 22.6 m/s
accleration = 22.6/2*100 = 0.113 m/s2
the angle of the ramp matters but height doesn't matter beacuse height of ramp is greater than height of cars
for the projectile height = (V2/2g)sin225
= 4.65
height of hoop = max.height of projectile + height of ramp =7.65 m
