Question

Thank guys! Please show me answer and solution

For the circuit shown in the figure below, calculate the following quantities. (Assume

and

R = 8.50 ?.

)

(a) the current in the 2.00-? resistor
mA

(b) the potential difference between points a and b
V

Thank guys! Please show me answer and solution For the circuit shown in the figure below, calculate the following quantities. (Assume (a) the current in the 2.00-? resistor mA (b) the potential difference between points a and b V epsilon = 3.50 V and R = 8.50 ?. )

Explanation / Answer

let i1 cuuent in top loop and i2 current in bottom loop

then by kvl

-12=4i1+2(i1-i2)--------------------(1) (assume current direction is clockwise)

-3.5=8.5i2+2(i2-i1)----------------(2) (assume current direction is clockwise)

by solving them

i1=-2.25

i2=-0.76

so current through 2ohm is i1-i2 = -1.49A so current flow form b to a.

Vba = 2*1.49=2.98V   (point b is at higher potential then a )
