Question
The resistor, 10 ohms, an inductor, 8.2 mH, and a capacitor, 100 micro F, are connected in series with an AC source (216 V, 60 Hz). Find the impedance of the circuit, current in the circut, phase between current and voltage. The resistor, 10 ohms, an inductor, 8.2 mH, and a capacitor, 100 micro F, are connected in series with an AC source (216 V, 60 Hz). Find the impedance of the circuit, current in the circut, phase between current and voltage. The resistor, 10 ohms, an inductor, 8.2 mH, and a capacitor, 100 micro F, are connected in series with an AC source (216 V, 60 Hz). Find the impedance of the circuit, current in the circut, phase between current and voltage.Explanation / Answer
Here ,
Z = R + j (2*pi*f*L - 1/(2*pi*f*C))
Z = 10 + j (2*pi*60*0.0082 - 1/((2*pi*60*100*10^-6))
Z = 10 - 23.43 j Ohm
Z = sqrt(10^2 + 23.43^2)
Z = 25.5 Ohm
the impedance in the circuit is 25.5 ohm
Now , using ohm's law
I = 216/25.5
I = 8.48 A
the current in the circuit is 8.48 A
phase angle = arctan(23.43/10)
phase angle = 66.9 degree
the phase angle between current and voltage is 66.9 degree
