Question

I need help with combination circuits... I figured out a couple problems, but I'm still lost with the rest Show all work or no credit 7. In the figure below, the current through the R1=45.00-Ohm resistor is 14.00 A, in the direction shown. What are the currents through the 25.0-Ohm and 20.0-Ohm resistors? i.What is the TOTAL resistance of the circuit? j. What are the CURRENTS through the 25 Ohm and 20 Ohm resistors? The given current (I) k. What is voltage provided by epsilon? is the current from l. What is the TOTAL power dissipated by the circuit?

Explanation / Answer

if currenr through 25 ohm is I25 .
then current throught R1 is = I25 x 8 / ( 45 + 8 ) = 14
I25 = 92.75 A    ......................Ans ( current through 45 ohm res. )
total resistance in upper arm ,
25 + ( 45 x8 / 45+8 ) = 31.79 ohm
if current through source is Ie then
currenr through 25 ohm is   Ie x 20 / (20 + 31.79 ) = 92.75 .............Ans(current through 25 ohm )
Ie = 240.19 A
through 20 ohm is = 240.19 x 31.79 / ( 20 + 31.79) = 147.43 A ...............Ans (through 20 Ohm )
now 31.79 and 20 ohm are in parallel ,
so Req = 31.79 x 20 / (31.79 + 20) = 12.28 Ohm ............Ans (i)

Voltage E = i Req = (240.18 x 12.28) = 2948.57 Volt .............Ans (k)

total power = EI = 2948.57 x 240.19 = 708217.05 Watt
