Please post detailed solutions for each part, especially part b, thanks in advance!! a) What correction lens is needed for a nearsighted eye that has a far-point of 117 cm? Express your answer in diopters. b) What type of lens is needed? converging diverging CHECK As the person gets older, the eye also needs correction for seeing nearby objects. In a lot of cases, the person elects to wear bifocals. That means that the top of the lens has a different focal length than the bottom of the lens. To accomplish that, a second lens, covering the bottom half of the lens, has to be glued to the first lens. c) What focal length lens do we need to glue to the first if we want the power of the combined lens at the bottom to be 1.90 diopters? Express your answer in meters.Explanation / Answer
Answer
a) Correction lens for nearsighted eye is concave lens. In Myopia a person may see clearly upto a few metres.
so power = 1/focal length i.e
P = -0.85D
b) Lens needed is diverging.
c) P = 1.90D,
F(focal length) = 0.53metres
