A family practice doctor has a female patient who is twenty-two weeks pregnant with her third baby. The first child was born at thirty weeks and survived; however, her second pregnancy resulted in a miscarriage at nineteen weeks. The patient would like to do all she can to have a successful pregnancy. As of today, the patient has no signs of premature labor, and her cervix is closed. Given her history, the family practice doctor would like to discuss the possibility of a cerclage with an obstetric consultant. Chances of cerclage helping the pregnancy along are one in ten.

On the basis of the above scenario, respond to the following questions:

Ethical obligations

As we see the patient has a history of early pregnancy in past due to which she loss her child. 1st pregnancy she has successfully completed. Now she is in 3rd round of pregnancy. As per her current status she is well as her cervix in close condition only. But the cerclage suggest that we can go for closing of cervix if we have history of miscarage and here we are in confusion mode that she has well status now but history tell us different things. Hence it is difficult for us what to do. As a ethical point of view we must adhere to save the life of her child because if she loose this time then she never want to become pregnant because of loss of little life of her child. Whenever women loss her child , she get coma like condition and her health is majorly affected.

This consultation help us what to do. Our decision become very easy because of such expert consultation. He help to avoid loss of her child.
