Explanation / Answer
Diabetes mellitus- It is a group of metabolic diseases characterised by hyperglycemia resulting from defect in insulin secretion, insulin action or both.
Impact objective: Environmental objective
1) Unhealthy foods: Refined ccarbohydrates i.e all white things such as sweets, breads, etc. Causes to be addictive as it tastes good and available. It increases serotonin and dopamine level which makes you full for short time and then drops your blood glucose drops and you feel hungry again.
2) Barriers to physical activities: Todays life is so easy, causes man to work sedentary life, very little to no hard work activities as much of the work is done by machines which has caused decreased physical activities.
3) Stress: It is the bodies response to threat. Stress hormones particularly cortisol, raise blood glucose levels & BP.
4) Social Isolation: This is increasing and being stressful. So in order to become strong social mobility is needed.
5) Exposure to chemical pollution: Chemicals such as Food, water, plastic packaging have found to increase insulin resistance and DM.
Activites & Strategies for reaching environmental objectives:
1) Healthful eating: Healthy eating is a great invest both physical & economically because it helps to keep your diabetes under control. Proper meal planning and diabetic diet will improve the blood glucose control levels.
2) Enhance in physical activities: Regular exercises is the best way to stay active helps in prevention of heart diseases, stroke, maintains BP, keeps blood glucose controlled.
3) Reducing stress levels: Finding things that make you happy & engage in activities where one feels interested. Reducing stress is the important thing.
4) Reduce exposure to chemicals: As one cannot avoid chemical exposure but one can reduce its exposure.
5) Participate in social activities: Rather than being lonely, try to reach out in social activities, show interest, distract from negative mind & be with positive people.
Outcome Objective:
- To assess the environmental factors which leads to T2DM.
- To understand the effects of environmental factors on T2DM.
- To find out the ways to aid these environmental factors leading to T2DM.
- To list the necessary things to do for prevention & controlling T2DM.
Health Promotion/Education materials:
- Health promotion is defined as the processes that facilitate people to enhance & control over their health (WHO).
- First identify the risk factors and causes of DM to avoid these risk factors such as smoking, obesity, etc is the key to prevent DM.
- To know the disease condition in detail- what is it, etiology, pathophysiology, Signs and symptoms, treatments & moreover is its prevention.
- To list health education & strategies to meet social & environmental determinants of health.
-Supportive environment in health promotion is the key concept for health promotion.
- Encouragement, Motivation & positive reinforcement is helpful for health promotion.
- Making of social groups to participate in health promotion.
- Education materials such as lectures, pictorial images video tapes, audiovisual aids, brouchers plays as an important tools in health promotion.

The medical & current public health provides information to make decisions regarding the interventions. Research studies helps in evaluating , also RE-AIM framework ( Reach, Effectiveness, Adoption, Implementation, Maintenance) helps in evaluating the intervention impact designed.
