The hospital is located in the city of manipal, karnataka, India and is a private hospital having a capacity of 2032 beds and caters to both rural and urban population. The mission is to be the most preffered and comprehensive hospital through clinical excellence, patient centricity and use of ethical practices to meet the health care needs of the community. The values of the hospital is to provide high quality health care to people of all strata of the society at affordable cost and a commintment to continuously improve the quality of services provided. The accreditations and awards recieved by the hospital are:
Since its establishment in 1961 with merely 150 beds, it is catering to large number of people from nearby states (both rural and urban) for more than 5 decades. It is a profit organization i.e a teaching hospital having its own medical college as well. The hospital provides both primary and secondary services in the fields of medicine, dentistry and pharmacy. The hospital has a team of full time consultant doctors, resident doctors, paramedical, nursing and other support staff. For the community it provides schemes like medicare and manipal health plan.
In my opinion; the selected healthcare setting is first and foremost situated at a very difficult location in a terrain and hilly area and therefore caters to the needy people devoid of any other healthcare services nearby. Secondly, despite being a private hospital and an organization for profit, the hospital is catering to rural population at affordable costs. Moreover they have designed their own medical insurance system for local people, which makes the healthcare furthermore affordable and achievable for the community people.
