Introduction :

Clinical nurse leader role is a specialized role to prepare a nurses with high efficiency to provide the best nursing care to the patients and mentors the nursing peers.

This calls for a higher education in nursing practice.

Discussion :As a clinical nurse leader, the possible personnel has to be educated in nursing with masters and certification program in CNL

as we can see the possible candidates are already working as

1)    Case manager

2)    Clinical nurse specialist

3)    Risk manager

4)   Quality manager

5)    Nursed educator

Among them –clinical manager, clinical nurse specialist, nursed educator present to have basic nursing education (graduation –bachelor in nursing )and appropriate master in nursing(MSN) or certification .

Quality manager and risk manager are meant to serve the hospital organization to check the following:

1) measuring the risk in patient care

2) safety measures

3)Formulating safety measure protocol

4)to reduce the impact of injury

5)safety of hospital personnel’s

6)potential exposure and its mitigation and proactive avoidance measurements

Quality manager:

Would also evaluate the function of the department personnel , quality check of machines , quality check of the patient care – in patient , out patient, ER, operation theatre .

Clinical nurse specialist: is a nursing personnel holding a bachelors in nursing (RN) and master in nursing with the special certification and skill in a specialty .

She will be knowledgeable in a specialty subject and an expert in a specific specialty of nursing care of patient population .

Her major role would be :thought providing direct patient care will be limited but mentoring the nurses in the specific specialty nursing field ,preparing advanced educating modules for the clinical nursing peers and they are equipped with the best clinical practice knowledge to sketch the best research-based theory to create best practices.

Nurse case manager : is basically to reduce the gap between the nursing patient care and prevent the duplication of nursing and treatment s.

They basically 1)identifies the patient needs 2)documents the available treatment plans 3) communicate the client needs 4) check the insurance coverage 5)plans and documents the client focused care plans .6)educated the patient and family .

Nurse educator: as the titles explains itself they educated the nursing personnel , they work in clinical setting and non clinical setting .
