The patient asks the nurse why her heart rate is so high. How do you explain this to the patient? (5 points) 3. When the nurse noted the protrusion of both eyes above, what complication of thyroid disease is most likely? What would you be looking for in the patient's blood work to confirm your answer? (5 points) 4. What are some possible treatments for the patient? If her condition goes untreated, what condition could this lead to? Name and describe at least three manifestations. (5 points)

Explanation / Answer

1.after observing the clinical manifestations of the patient ,she is displaying the symptoms of HYPERTHYROIDISM or GRAVES DISEASE.The symptoms of the patient are warmth, irregular heartbeat, weight loss, puffiness of eyes, increased appetite which are clearly the symptoms of hyperthyroidism.T3,T4 and TSH levels are suppressed n hyperthyroidism.LArge amounts of tetraiodothyronine in dietary supplements may also be the cause of the disease. It is an auto immune disorder.

2.if a patient asks any health related questions ,nurse should answer them in such a way that he/she should not get affected much and overthink about the disease which leads to mental stress .Nurse should first explain them that is not at all life threatening and can be dealt easily by following the diagnosis by doctor.Nurses should take necessary steps followed by the guidelines in hospital by nurturing patients, physical comfort and making them trust on themselves and on the clinicians.

3.hyperthyroidism is most likely.patients blood test indicating thyroid profile includes hormones test i.e t3,t4 and tsh levels.CT scan also gives the exact results needed.

4.Possible treatments would be giving medications anti thyroid medicine or radioactive iodine therapy.if the condition goes untreated it leads to life threatening situation and the only treatment for such scenarios would be the surgery.Dysphagia, weakness, weightloss ,abdominal pain, etc would be the manifestations.Atrial fibrillation or congestive heart failure is also one of the main manifestations.
