Question

Dana (now 12 years old) has struggled for years with anger management. Several times this year he has been sent home for bullying behavior. According to teachers and school counselors, he’s constantly behaving in a hostile way, assuming the worst intentions from peers and often reacting violently to what are neutral or accidental behaviors from others (e.g. bumping into him in the hallway by accident.) One sentence (minimum): What would an attachment theory expert say is the root of the problem? One sentence (minimum): What would a temperament theory expert say is the root of the problem?

Explanation / Answer

Attachment theory says about parent-child relationships and it's effects on child's growth and development. Root of the problem here is one of the parent is missing and the replaced care provider is not properly attached with the child and child has become frustrated and this leads to hostile behavior.

And temperament theory expert would say that the Dana has the temperament as the in-born trait and that is why anger management and other solutions are not affecting it's behavior.
