Write a brief answer to the following questions. A patient is diagnosed with "strep throat." Explain how this diagnosis is made, from swabbing the throat to a prescription for antibiotics. The man was coughing during the entire trip. A fellow student arrives at the hospital for clinical wearing multiple rings with stones on each hand. 1. Strep throat is a bacterial infection that leads to inflammation and pain in the throat.
Initially to diagnose any condition the signs and symptoms are asked for example for strep throat patient may complaint of sore throat, difficulty in breathing, difficulty in swallowing etc. then your doctor will check for inflammation or swollen lymph nodes. Rapid screen strep test may be done in which a long cotton swab is taken and inserted in the back of the throat and brush it slightly and the sample is obtained. The sample is then sent to lab to check for presence of streptococcus bacterium and the antibiotics are started accordingly.
2. Pneumonia is an abnormal condition in which the lungs are inflammed, and the air sacs or alveoli are fiiled with pus or becomes hard, it mainly caused by bacterial or viral.
As pneumonia can be spread by an individual through sneezing or coughing. When a person sneezes or coughs the droplets are spread in the surroundings throughout the air, these droplets carries the infectious organisms. The person who is non infected may get pneumonia by means of surrounding air.
3. Wearing rings or jewelries in a hospital setting is not allowed as it traps most of the germs. The staffs are also not allowed to wear ring to prevent any noscomial infection or hospital acquired infection. It increases the chance of infection and decreases the progression of health. Also wearing any metals would give false or pseudo result while taking an ECG.
