Dinkel, S., & Schmidt, K. (2015). Health education needs of incarcerated women. Journal of Nursing Scholarship, 46(4), 229-234. doi: 10.1111/jnu.12079

Using the above 2 articles,

Describe the sample with demographics, data collection process, and identification of variables; sampling design; instruments, tools, or surveys.

Summarized the discussion about the validity and reliability of the instruments, tools, or surveys.

Discussed legal/ethical concerns.

NOTE: If a component is absent, student receives a zero for that component.

Explanation / Answer

For the first article,

1, Sample with demographics, sampling design:

2, Data collection process:

3, Variables: Independent variable- Organ donar card.

Dependent variable-Spirituality

3, Tools/Instruments:

For the second article,

1, Sample with demographics, sampling design:

2, Data collection process:

Data was collected from 2 focus groups of adult women in a state correction facility by constant comparison of both groups.

3, Variables: Dependent variable: Health education needs

Independent variable: Inacarcerated women.

4, Tools/Survey: Comparitive design/approach

Therefore coming into the validity and reliabuility of the tools, In the first article, they used descriptive statistics, t test, chi square test, logistic regression analysis. These tools are of more valid, because those are of quantitative studies, which can be measured in statistical terms, where as in second article, they used comparitive design, this is of not that much accurate because it is a qualitative study, it will be influenced by various factors, bias etc.

With regard to legal and ethical concerns, Informed voluntary consent is very important before doing any research study. And also ethical clearence to be performed before the study, so that no one should be harmed with this study.
