Question
American family has created a society that has further detachment between individuals. We have shown our children that sending a text message with the words "I love you" is just as beneficial and embracing someone and telling them "I love you" while looking in their eyes. I think that the changing of the American family has changed not just to promote individualism, which definitely plays a part; but more over because so many other things have changed. The cost of living has risen tremendously and will continue to, therefore in most families both the mother and the father have to work. We have eliminated many gender boundaries, which means those who identify as gay or lesbian can now legally get married. I believe that the world and society that we live in is constantly changing and evolving and therefore the picture and idea that we have of the American family will also be changing and evolving as well.Explanation / Answer
These days not only American families are getting detached but most of the families around the world are getting detached and these are attributed definitely to individualism. It is one of the attributes why the families get detached from each other. Child rearing took centre stage in the early days, but with the increasing costs and desires of individuals, child rearing is getting less priority than before. These days most of the families are occupied with their profession more than the family. Though they work for the betterment of the family, they fail to understand that by working along they would not be able to create moral values in the children. Yes, working would definitely generate money, but money would not be enough to buy happiness,
The Gender bias have all been overcome by most of the countries today. Women are equally or to be precise more qualified than most of the men. Woment do multitasking and take the centre stage in the family by managing both house and profession. When the balance amidst these two shift, then individualism comes into picture. When personal desires and needs are given importance more than family, then it would definitely result in detachment and the kids would be brought up without making them understand the moral values. Father and mother in the family forget the importance of quality time being spent with their kid since individual professional growth comes into picture. A husband will not recognize a wife for doing her so called day-to-day chores and vice versa a wife would not congratulate a Husband for being responsible, since they are expected to do so being in a family. On the other hand, in office they activities are recognized and appreciated, so their profession becomes more important to them than the family where they feel are motivated, recognized and appeciated.
Hence yes, it is true that child rearing no longer occupies center stage in family life.Individual needs and desires are definitely grabbing more attention.
