Ethics are something that must be adhered to without considering financial implications of such actions. In each and every profession there are certain grey areas which can be exploited to make more profit, but such areas will also be source of major trouble for the companies.
The example is food business: Customers of the food stall expect you to be very professional in serving them proper and safe food. But many of the small restaurants have bad practices of using burned out oil, using low quality materials to minimize costs, such restaurant may reap benefits in short run but would cause major harm to its consumers. In long run such businesses would finally close due to bad reputation they earn over time.
The same is true with most manufacturing comapnies, Car makers can easily minimize costs by using low grade material, Due to low cost they would gain great advantage in short run, but in long run their products would be considered inferior and would wreck havoc.
