Short Answer:

The main goal of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 is to solve some of the major energy problems in the United States. In addition to providing funding for renewable fuel technologies such as tidal power and geothermal energy, the legislation encourages the increase of coal as an energy source and provides incentives for companies that are drilling for oil. Do you think this legislation is likely to be effective in helping solve our country’s major energy problems? How might this legislation be made more effective?

Explanation / Answer

The legislation has some good points which will definitely help in solving major problems, the funding for research in the new energy sources will help us generate the energy from other resources. The use of coal and oil as a fuel should be avoided as they are perishable resources which after some time will perish and we will be left in the need of energy, also they are not clean energy sources they create lot of pollution which isn't helpful either.

With the funding to fuel technologies such as tidal power and geothermal energy, the legislation if encourage the use of such technologies instead of coal and oil for fuel - it will be more effective towards the solving of country’s major energy problems.
