Question
A phD professor provides you with temperature measurements taken for 10 years prior at 5 separate weather stations throughout the Midwest, USA. There is an evident trend of warming at each weather station in that elapsed time (10 years). A co-worker analyzed this set of data, strictly looking at this data set, and concluded:
“The midwestern climate is warming. The warming is evidently caused due to a climb in anthropogenic green-house emission (greenhouse gases).”
Is this an agreeable statement? Provide context for agreeing or disagreeing. What other info is needed to draw a conclusion on this.
Explanation / Answer
Yes, the green house gases emission is increasing the temperature due to the anthropogenic emissions. When there are no cars and no AC the temperature is normal. And when there is no burning of fossil fuels the temperature is normal.
Now the demand increased as the population increases. The emission of green house gases also increased. Forest are chopped down and water bodies are occupied, sea life is killed, water is polluted and there is no receiver for these green house gases to catch them.
Collection of temperature of sea water and salinity and the coral samples will help more in justifying the conclusion.
