Just as there are two Chinas, there are also two Koreas. One is officially known as the Republic of Korea (ROK) and the other is the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea (DPROK). Do some investigation and report on the following: What is the difference between the ROK and DPROK? The border between the two Koreas is not actually a border line, it is a border zone. It is known as the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and it is ironically the most militarized area on earth. Why is this? The two Koreas are still officially at war as a peace treaty has never been signed. The only thing signed was an armistice, which is simply a cease-fire agreement (although it now appears the DPROK does not even recognize the armistice). The below photo is of the Armistice Table, located in the DMZ. This is certainly the most unique conference table on earth and is actually a tourist attraction. Why is this?

A DMZ may sometimes form a international border,. 38th Parallel, is a strip of land across the Korean Peninsula. It is established under Korean Armistice Agreement to serve as a buffer zone between DPROK (North Korea) and the ROK (South Korea). The demilitarized zone is a border barrier that divides the Korean Peninsula roughly in half. It was created by agreement between North Korea, China and the United Nations in 1953. The DMZ is 250 kilometres long, and about 4 kilometres wide.

The tunnel contained sleeping areas, weapons storage and was 3 feet tall, and 4 feet wide. After that S.korea has found more than 3 tunnels in 20 years. These tunnels are believed to have the capacity to transport as many as 2,000 troops an hour through them.
