a) Answer: by the question, angle between two wind direction is 45°.

Therefore, the resultant motion = sqrt[152+352-15*35*cos 45°] = 26.59

Ut = 35 m/s and angle between resultant and lower wind= Acos(15/26.59)= 55.66

Vt= 26.59 cos [55.66-45]° = 23.13 m/s

b) horizontal speed = 35 m/s, coriolis force f= 1.48*10e-4 * sin(45°) = 1.03*10e-4

horizontal gradient = f x Ut x ro = 1.03*10e-4 * 35*1 = 0.00036

c) When temp gradient (dT/dx), we know, Ut = -(R/f)* (dT/dx)* ln(Po/P1). Here R=8.31
