Advance Information: What times were the nearest high and low tides to the field trip? (Based on start to finish- 11:30am -4pm) Explain why it was important to gather advance information on the timing of the tides. Elevation Profiles: The pdf titled "Ocean Beach Survey Profiles- Saturday" (on ilearn) contains elevation profiles from the location that you helped survey: the profile from 11/4; selected profiles from 2004-2017 (figure 2); a series of spring profiles (figure 3); and a series of fall profiles (figure 4). Study them carefully to answer the following two questions. When referencing the profiles, specify location using the grid provided as well as names of specific landform features. Based on the figures, what part or parts of the overall profile have changed the most during the period (2004-2017)? What factors might explain these changes? 1.

Explanation / Answer

The tide timings of the place can be looked up online by giving the lat and long of the area, or even the place name. But actually your instructed wanted you to identify the time of maximum sea level and minimum sea level while you were on filed. The advance information on tides is always advisory because , it would help us know better about the sea conditions and to be on the safer side. Since i do not have any knowledge on the location of your visit , i cannot enlight you of the potential dangers.

now on the levetaion profiles, you will have to compare the graphs which were provided to you. or if it was provided here i woould have helped you. Try to explain possible reasons of the topography changes , may be rise in sea leveel or lowering of it , or may be increased river sediment load or water velocity.

compare the spng and fall profiles of the area, changes are most likely present due to change in possible currents , wave patterns, winds etc. assuming the profiles are of a seaside. Read about the change in wind and current pattern of the area during sping and fall , or may be the percipitation rates.
