Explanation / Answer

Hi There :)

Tree of Hope - Frida Kahlo

This beautiful piece of artwork made by Frida depicts two women in the painting one is lying down on hospital bed with some serious injuries on her back and another women holding a steel corset and is standing firm and is looking fine.

This drastic painting was created by Frida when she returend back to Mexico from United States, and was lying on her bed wearing a steel corset for eight months but her health conditions were getting worsen day by day as she got sharp pains in her spine and lost her appetite due to the long lasting pain. But many would get shock to know that, inspite of having these serious injuries she still manages to paint and named it "Tree Of Hope " (1946) nothing but the result of the operation.

My eyes first catches the view that a women is lying on hospital bed next to a women who is holding a corset and a flag both with a poem written and forces me to think deep on it.

Painting holds too much of detailing, under the gloomy sky, the sun and the moon it divided the background into two halves of light and dark. In the middle Frida was setting their and weeping in a tehuana costume holding a pink corset in one hand and a flag which has words from the song "" Cielito Lindo"" - " tree of hope keep firm ". Although if we look at her face expressions she is looking strong and confident. Behind her lying another Frida on a hospital bed who is anesthetized and her surgical wounds are still open and dripping with blood.

On the Flagpole there is a red tip looks like a surgical instrument stained with blood, or a paintbrush dipped in a red paint. The barren landscape behind her has two fissures which is metaphor of the wounds on her back. Frida painted this painting with two Frida's image together, one is a victim of botched tragedy, the other is the heroic survivor, Frida used it as a an act of strong faith and wants to convey that she takes the charge of his own destiny and become her own saver and hero.

I came to the conclusion that Frida is trying to show her feelings, emotions and a bitter turth about the life and death knocking doors, still she is so firm, strong and confident to face all the immortal.

  The Tragedy - Pablo Picasso

Pablo picasso the name is enough to depict what miracles he had created in his whole life span. The tragedy is a 1903 painting that portrays three figures gathered together on a beach. He choose to emulate nature in his painting. Moreover points out our personal weakness and personal failure.

However there is no sign of any natural misshappening or disaster on site but the manner in which the adult's figure pose or stands without comforting one another, looking down desperately means all is not well. Both men and women are looking downwards inwardly in an innately familiar pose and the child standing next seems too young to understand what is going on with the couples.

They seems to be very helpless to respond to child. Thus the calamity in this painting is subjective rather than in reference to any particular single event.

What i feel after going through the painting briefly that, Picasso portrays human experience and suffering in such a way that we don't feel disgusted, no distractions from human sufferings and complete reality . It resonates with us by evoking real empthy.

The art has deep blue colors which also shows some visual evidences of change to the Tragedy, there lies a very thickly laid paint that cuts across the man's right arm bearing nor relations to the hanging of his garmnets. The orange and yellow shades appearing in the painting doen't makes any relationship with the dark blue color of the painting.

From the painting I came to the conclusion that Picasso through his epic and simple sreation is trying to show the real harshness of life of a small family where elders are unable to make proper decision because of may be lack of sources and money and are standing in depression facing each other and because they are at the beach they have have their arms folded and covered.
