Plate tectonic theory introduced in 1960's, earlier scientist were confused about the movement of plates but by this theory scientist are achieving various milestone in earth science discoveries.

Plate are considered to be as of three types

1: Convergent 2: Divergent 3: Transform

The movement of one plate over another is signify convergent regime, when plates moving apart from each other signify divergent regime, and when slide apast from one another shows transform regime.

The earthquake are considered to associated with convergent regime of deep focus and of shallow focus with divergent regime.

Since, the concerned geological events are consider to be natural disaster, therefore they affect normal life and property adversely.

The earth science plays a significant role in diagnosting the movement of plates, which causes these events. Earthquake cannot be predicted no instrument invented yet to assume the time of earthquake occurence. But speed of plates and direction can be detected by GPS devices which ultimately helps in determining the movement and future possibility of plates.
