Question

JURDaDD220)3 /40068 response-content-disposition-inline 8 9 2. (5 points) Ted Koppel, host of the ABC news program Nightline, once said, "Do you know what's happened to the price of drugs in the United States? The price of cocaine, way down, the price of marijuana, way down. You don't have to be an expert in economics to know that when the price goes down, it means more stuff is coming in. That's supply and demand. According to Koppel, the price of drugs dropped because the government's efforts to control the supply of illegal drugs had failed. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, the quantity of drugs consumed actually decreased during the period of dropping prices. Is Koppel's economic detective work sound?

Explanation / Answer

Answer :-

According to me Koppel's economic detective work is sound because As per Koppel the government efforts to control the supply of illegal drugs had failed as when the supply of the drugs are increased then it is a common knowledge then the price of the Drugs gets decreased And the decrasing price would lead to increase in demand. The person buying power is increased by reducing the price of the drugs. And as per me the statement of US department of Justice is incorrect as they said that quantity of drugs consumption decreased during the period of reducing price As we all know in the United States Drugs are more expensive as compared to other country Government can have a very high control or doing every possible task to reduce the consumption of the drugs in the country. And also government always try to aware the persons about the side effects or disabilities happened due to the consumtion of Drugs time to time.
