Question
Instructor's Statement - In his later published book, The Motorcycle Diaries, Ernesto "Che" Guevara commented that there is indeed one Latin America and that all Latin Americans are equal. However, more traditional historians would disagree, suggesting that Latin American geography, like that of Italy and Greece, has been an obstacle to political and demographic unity. The meeting between Simon Bolivar and Jose de San Martin at Guyaquil in 1823 confirmed that indeed Latin American geography is an obstacle that can never be overcome, even in the contemporary age of globalization. I1Explanation / Answer
THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES is a collection of memories from the life of young ERNESTO CHE GUEVARA. At the age of 23 years Che Guevara along with his friend desired to explore the real SOUTH AMERICA which he has seen in only books till then. Their journey continued for almost 9 months covering 8000 kilometres.
During his journey he witnessed several social injustices and interacted with homeless communist people which changed his attitude and made a particularly strong impression on Che Guevara. And by the end of his journey Che Guevara decided to FIGHT AND DIE FOR THE CAUSE OF THE POOR.
In my opinion the above statement "there is one Latin America and all Latin Americans are equal. Latin American geography is an obstacle that can never be overcome" these lines from his clearly explains us that CHE GUEVARA WAS A COMPLETE CHANGED MAN after his journey. I personally think that the statement itself says about the strong impression created deep inside Guevara and his willingness to fight for anything and he always dream of TO SEE A UNITED LATIN AMERICA.
On his 24th birthday he gave his first ever political speech, advocating a unified Latin America and that journey completely changed him and made Che Guevara to stand on people's side and fight for them.
