Question

Question type: Essay 1) Briefly trace a molecule of carbon as it travels through the four reservoirs. How does it get from land to the atmosphere and oceans? How does it travel from organic material to the land and atmosphere? How does it get from the atmosphere to organic material and the oceans? 2Why would people deny that humans are the cause of increased Co, levels in the atmosphere? Looking at the information above, do you think humans are the cause of these increased amounts of atmospheric CO2? 3)Do you think the carbon cycle is bering changed by humans? Why or why not? 4 What can be done within the carbon cycle to remove more atmospheric CO2? What reservoirs would you put the carbon in? How would you get it in these reservoirs? 5How much do you think using specific electrical appliances add CO to the carbon cycle?

Explanation / Answer

1.Carbon is the seen and used in many things. It is in the rocks, water, our hair, clothes, paints and in every thing. Carbon is a part of our life.

This carbon comes from four different reservoirs. First reservoir is the rock. Because most of the land surface is covered with rock, the carbon particles can stay here.

The carbon particles usually come out from the rock as molten lava or other ways. They are again absorbed into the rocks through chemical reactions.

The second reservoir is the ocean. Oceanic water absorbs carbon by the process of diffusion. The wind mixes the water and the carbon. This is why the content of carbon is high at the bottom of the sea.

Then comes the third reservoir plants and animals. Carbon is absorbed by the plants for photosynthesis. After photosynthesis they give byproducts, animals eat them, we eat them and then release them into the nature.

Plants will die and they are buried and they give back the carbon.

All this carbon is again distributed into the fourth reservoir the atmosphere. Here the carbon is mixed with water vapor or other particles and reacts and reaches the other three reservoirs again.

2. People don't want the blame on them. Yes, humans are currently seeking for the increased levels of carbon dioxide. Because of the increased population there is an increase in the industries that realese more carbon, the rocks are shredded to construct houses and roads which is breaking one of the reservoir for carbon. Deforestation, water pollution are the other factors.

3. There must be something to absord the released carbon, but all of them are disturbed and decreasing in quantity, then the carbon has no place to get absorbed. The reservoir that is giving the carbon is not taking it back because the reservoir is disturbed by humans.

4. Planting more trees will help in reducing the atmospheric carbon dioxide. This I because trees absorb most of the carbon dioxide for photosynthesis. A tree can grow for very long time and undergoes photosynthesis every day.

5. Electronic equipment doesn't generate any smoke until they are in an accident. But there are few equipment that can release other particles that are indirectly causing the increase of carbon dioxide
