Ans: The company that is chosen for discussion is IBM. Lets find out how IBM has leveraged its diversity for a multicultural environmnt at work place.

IBM is the most favourable company for woman because it’s the only one of the top 10 with a female CEO. In 2011 the century old tech giant achieved Virginia Rometty for the top job. Additionally IBM has an impressive diversity of female senior managers. For example, according to NAFE, 29%, and 26% of its executives are women. Those are undoubtedly imprssive numbers provided and then 30% of its 431,000 worldwide employees are also women.

IBM even reaches to female executives who have left the organisation through a program called Reconnections initiative, that offers continuing education and networking. In addition to tagging IBM as a member of its top 10 companies for women, NAFE also tags IBM in its “hall of fame” because the company has cooperated with their survey and also landing in the top 50 companies for 15 out of total 17 years that NAFE has put out the list.

In 1995, IBM President Louis Gerstner divided eight diversity task forces that is based on the following cultural groups: African Americans; Asians; people with disabilities; Hispanics; men; Native Americans; people self-identifying as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender (GLBT); and women. These task forces are composed of middle- and senior-level executives. And each task force addresses the unique issues and concerns of its respective constituency.
