1. Clam is more likely to be preserved than butterfly.

Clams shells are made of Calcium Carbonate which is much easier to preserve, while all a butterfly is made of is organic material that will decay. Not only can clam shells be fossilized but just think which would hold up better, essentially a rock-like shell, or flimsy butterfly wings.
