This activity touches on economic diversity, something we don't always think of when the topic of diversity is discussed. This game gives you the opportunity to apply your financial savvy and your luck.
Spend a few minutes 'playing' Spent the game developed by Urban Ministries of Durham. Make some notes as you move through the scenarios.
What job did you choose?
Did you manage to make it to the end of the month?
If not, what combination of chance and choices caused your money to run out? Try playing a second time with different choices and compare your results.
Explanation / Answer
ANSWER:
I CHOSE TO WORK AS A WARE HOUSE ASSOCIATE FOR $9/HR AND I DID MAKE IT THROUGH THE MONTH WITH $28 LEFT AS THE BALANCE TOWARDS THE END AND I FOUND IT A BIT TOUGH BUT ALL IN ALL IT WAS A DECENT DECISION MAKING PROCESS AND ALTHOUGH I DID LOOSE MY JOB AT DAY 15 DUE TO UNION ISSUES , FOR WHICH I WAS FIRED AND LEFT WITH $328 WITH 15 DAYS LEFT.
I WAS SICK IN BETWEEN BUT DECIDED TO CONTINUE WORKING AT DAY 10 AND ALTHOUGH MY BACK DID HURT BUT STILL WENT FOR THE WORK AND I TOOK THE HOUSE FOR RENT 50 MILES AWAY AND ATE BURGER FROM THE DOLLAR SHOP AND ONCE I WAS FIRED I SHARED MY LIVING ROOM WITH A FRIEND OF A FRIEND AND MISSED MY CHILD'S PLAY FOR GETTING $50 CHEQUE FROM MY NEIGHBOUR BY HELPING HIM MOVE IN AND ALSO PAID MY CHILD'S FOOD FEE WHICH WAS $3 PER DAY AND BUTED FOOD FOR $26 WHICH INCLUDED CHICKEN, BREAD , MILK , EGGS AND APPLE. I ALSO CHOSE TO APPLY FOR THE BRONZE HEALTHCARE PLAN ( THE MINIMUM ONE).
ALL IN ALL I SURVIVED THROUGHOUT THE MONTH WITH SOME ADJUSTMENTS BEING MADE AND ALSO UNDERSTOOD THE HARDSHIPS THAT PEOPLE BELOW THE POVERTY LINE GO THROUGH.
