Explanation / Answer

a. The U.S. foreign aid budget for 2016 is $ 33.59 billion.

b) The U.S foreign aid was 0.18% of GNI which is much below the UN target of 0.7% of GNI.

c) I agree with the UN concept of fair share as development aid to poor and conflict struck regions can help reduce the suffering and resolve the crisis in these countries which can be very beneficial to the global economy on the whole which can benefit the donor countries by increase business for the companies from donor companies in previously affected regions.

d) Currently, U.S aid budget is too low given that many individuals in US have more net worth than the total budget for foreign aid in 2016 . US should take the lead and be generous in providing development assistance to poor and affected countries with money as well as technology and skills.

e) It is very difficult to determine how the US foreign aid successfully target the Bottom Billion, especially given very little supervision by US authorities of the recipient of aids. The aid given is extremely prone to leakage and wastage due to corruption in poor regions with unstable and dictatorial governments.
