Question
I'm attempting to run a multiple regression for renewable energy to compare certain supply and demand within countries using Real GDP, Lithium Imports/Exports, Inflation, CPI Energy, CPI, Reneable Energy Consumption and Unemployment as my explanatory variables. If you were to explain renewable energy using these explanatory variables for a individual country what variable would you want to use as the intercept for the rest to explain. For instance would you use Real GDp as the intercept or Reneable Energy connsumed?
Explanation / Answer
You need not use any variable as an intercept because the intercept takes the mean effect of the ommitted variables in the model. You just run the regression of dependent variable on the above mentioned independent variables.
