You have all heard the saying about how there are only two things in life that you must do: die and pay taxes. So far, no one has discovered a cure for death nor developed a way to finance government without taxes. Many people believe that we never will create eternal life here on earth, but there are many more people who believe that taxation can be eliminated. Are you one of those people? Discuss some ideas of possibly financing the government without taxation. (Hint: One method might be a national lottery). Keep in mind that some states have already eliminated personal income taxes and some do not have sales taxes.

Explanation / Answer

Charging tax is a process of government income; probably the main source of income. It helps government to minimize budget deficit, and to make investment which ultimately increases GDP of the country.

This is my belief that taxes should be eliminated because of ethical ground. A person or a corporate body earns money, since they have caliber and quality. Charging tax on their income looks like charging penalty what they have done; this is not at all ethical and it can demoralize those income-holders.

Government can do financing without the help of tax revenue. Some ideas of generating revenues are lottery, transportation, cheap canteen, school, etc.

These are discussed below:

Lottery: If it is conducted by the government on weekly, daily, or monthly basis, so many people would be interested to purchase tickets on the hope of getting prizes. Earnings of government would be much higher than prize money, which leads to have substantial excess amount in hand.

Transportation: Government can undertake some road services, which could be a huge part of revenue income; such as bus ticket selling, contract price, etc.

Cheap canteen: The setup could be made in various places throughout the country. Revenue could be generated through food selling.

School: Some private schools could be taken as under the government ownership; earning through fee is a revenue income.
