Explanation / Answer

PPACA (PATIENT PROTECTION AND AFFORDABLE CARE ACT)

  ABSTRACT:

The patient protection and affordable care act was passed by Congress in year 2010. The main intention of the PPACA concept is to decrease the number of uninsured population in the United States. Other name for PPACA is OBAMA CARE. Even with this affordable care act (ACA) almost 30 million people are still uninsured.

The percentage of uninsured population is been increased because of their thinking. Many people think that PPACA is for personal political benefits and this is the reason why many people choose not to purchase a health insurance plan. The Hispanic group in the United States are the majority people without health insurance. Almost Hispanic make 18 percentage of America population and the rate of uninsured population reaches 40 percentage.

And the other important factor that affect PPACA is IMMIGRANTS. Almost 5 million people are uninsured due to immigration status issues. Next majority of population about 3 million don't have insurance because of their low annual income. The only relief which relatively increased the purchase of insurance is Affordable care act (ACA) subsidies. In 2017 the health insurance premiums increased on an average of 25 percentage, which is very high compared to before years.

The fine or penalty charged is especially for the people who can afford health insurance but choose not to buy it. Internal revenue service(IRS) will take care of identifying the persons who don't have coverage and calculate they should pay. One should pay the fine along with federal tax return for the year who don't have coverage. This fee can be calculated in two different ways

(a) from percentage of income: Around 2.5 percentage of annual household income.

(b) per person: Around 695$ per adult, where as 347$ per child

CONCLUSION:

In my opinion I really appreciate the initiative for reducing the number of uninsured people in the United States. Because ACA is responsible to maintain higher health quality for everyone in the United States. But the fine/penalty should be stopped immediately because it can have a negative impact. Only one-fourth of the United States population think that ACA will benefit them and the rest think that ACA is for personal political benefits.
