Part I: You have a friend who tells you that he wants to build an X-ray observatory in his backyard (the same way some people build set up home observatories with optical telescopes). Would you tell your friend that this is a good idea? Why or why not? (Although questions of cost and technology obviously factor in when building any home observatory, that's not the answer that we are looking for here). Part II: How might your answer be different if your friend wanted to put his X-ray observatory on a balloon?

Explanation / Answer

I dont think it a good idea as for setting up a X-ray observatory it would require to set up a dish to focus the radio waves onto the receiver. The receiver then sends the signal to be recorded for astronomers to study.which is not needed in optical telescope,whereas the optical telescope does not require dish. Also it may require more than one dish to get the proper image.

Also man made radio emmision would be much greater near home which would affect the X ray telescope image.

Building a Xray observatory on ballon is a good idea as with high altitude interference with the other radio waves would decrease.
