Question
Martin has hypothesized that the size and types of trees differ between valleys and higher elevations. He sets up a transect line in a wooded valley and randomly creates three 10 x 10 meter plots along the transect line, recording GPS coordinates for the northwest corner of each plot. He identifies and measures (diameter at breast height) every tree within the plots. He repeats this procedure in a wooded area on the ridge above the valley.
Using the scenario above, state the independent and dependent variables.
Explanation / Answer
Answer- There is relation type and size of tree between higher elevation and valley. On higher elevation the height of tree increase and leave become needle shaped. at the low atitude leave of tree is broad and height of tree is too large in the comparison of tree at higher elevation. Now martin has set up 10*10 meter plot along transect line in wooded valley. He measured the diameter of breast height of each tree in plot. soin the above scenario the independent and dependent variable are following
Independent Variable- amount of sun light- it changes from day to next day as well as during one day interval.
Dependent Variable- Humidity, amount of water, Soil type and its composition, temperature, etc
