As given the two components are sand and salt.

Let A be the sand and B be the salt.

1. Dissolve the mixture into the water ,the salt will dissolve in the water leaving sand undissolved.Filter the sand and dry it .Thus amount of component A (sand) can be find out.

2.Take the filtrate (salty solution) of step first and evaporate out the water from it by heating the solution.You will get salt in pure form after total water evaporation.Thus amount of component B ( salt) can be determined.
