You are an US EPA inspector working for one of the 10 EPA regions. You are responsible for stratospheric ozone protection (CFCs) inspections under Section 608 of the CAA. You are told to inspect a supermarket that lease or own a freezer (for meats) and a cold storage room (for produce/dairy) and also has a comfort cooling unit (for office and computer room).

Your job: As a section 608 inspector, what would you be looking for (in terms of potential violations)? What are the recordkeeping requirements? What are the penalties and/or violations associated with failure to produce the required recordkeeping.   The units all carry more than 50 pounds of refrigerant (HCFC-22 or blends).

According to the section 608 of CAA,it regulate the clean air act for stationsary refregerations and air conditioning. by the way here given that a situation in which I am an EPA inspector. i have to inspect 10 EPA regions. i found that in a mall there are many activities and equipement are used which are act as pollutant or the sources of pollution. it may be contribute as depletion of ozone or increases the atmosphere tempeature. it is a such type of violence in view point of pollution that it should be banned and resolve it in a proper way.

As we all know that refregerators and air conditioners emits a lot of CFCs to the environment and which is a main reason for the depletions of the ozone layers. it also emit heat energy to the environment which raise the effective temperature of the atmosphere.

It is also a type of violence or potential threats in which they polluting the environment and make the world a dangerous place to live. i will warn them to settle down their plants in small units and should not overuse these cooling devices.

Then I would like to take the following steps to resolve this-

1) as an inspector, first i would like to inspect the situation properly and then after checking and found the illegal environment pollutant source, i will charged them and stop their business for some periods.

2) make them aware about whatever they are doing are very dangerous to environment. it should be important to impart them about the knowledge of environmental pollutions and it's bad effect to humankind.

3) I will tell them about the latest other methods to preserve their meat materials and try to make understand the people of office to not use air conditioner very much and use only when required.

Penalties for them who are polluting the environment is as same as a mudurer or a criminal get. they will be charged for this a huge amount of money and will be possible to go to jail. the other thing is that their production unit will seal and kept under U.S. government for banned the plant as illegal.
