Although albite and anorthite share the same feldspar crystal structure, anorthite, the Ca-rich end-member, crystallizes at high temperature from magmas deficient in silicon (Si). By contrast, albite, the Na-rich end- member, crystallizes at lower temperature from magmas enriched in Si.
