Question
1.) You have been provided 100mL of a 1000ug/ml barium standard. What volume of this standard must be diluted to a final volume of 50mL using DI water to produce a 30ug/ml standard?
2.)given a full 100mL of the same standard provied in #1 calculate the amount of standard and final volume required to produce a series of standards at these concentration 1 ppm, 3ppm,10ppm,25ppm,50ppm and 100ppm. You will need a minimum of 10mL of each standard. You have a 1 mL class A pipette, a 5mL class A pipette and a 10 mL class A pipette, all calibrated TD. You DO NOT have the ability to use volumes other than what you have a pipette for (i.e you can not use 1.5 mL since you do not have a pipette calibrated for 0.5mL. You also only have the following volumetric flasks: 10,50,100,250, and 500 mL. Once you make a standard you store it in another container, freeing up the volumetric flask to be used again.
3.) Given a full 100mL of the same stgandard from problem #1 and 100mL of a 100ppm Yttrium standard, calculate the amount of the Ba standard, the Y standard and DI water to produce a series of 10ml standards containing 10 ppm Ba, 25ppm Ba, 50 ppm Ba, 100 ppm Ba. All standards should also contain 10ppm Y.
