Question

on DiffusionBSPI Part 2A: Designing the Experiment In diffusion, movement of molecules from higher concentration to the lower concentration is dependent on many different factors including temperature, physical state of medium, molecular size and polarity We will test whether or not the temperature of the physical state of the medium (water) has any effect on the movement of substances. In Part 2A, you will first apply scientifie method, design experiment and predict out- comes In Part 2B, you will actually do the experiment, collect data and derive conclusions to see if your hypothesis can be accepted/revised or rejected. The Materials Given to You are: 1· Liquid Medium: DI Water a. DI water at room temperature b. Boiling DI water c. Ice-cold DI water Substance: Congo red 250 ml glass Beakers Thermometers 2. 3. 4·

Explanation / Answer

Posted the first three answers, post multiple question to get the remaining answers

1) The objective of the study is to find that the temperature of the medium will have an effect on the diffusion process or not. The study is done using the medium (water) in our case at various temperatures i.e. iced water, boiling water, water at room temperature etc

2) The movement of molecules from higher concentration to a lower concentration have caused this study. The particles/molecules try to balance their composition in both left and right hand side which has provided that the diffusion is responsible on certain outside conditions

3) The hypothesis is to study the affect of diffusion with varying temperature of the medium and then estimating if the increase or decrease in the temperature is helping or obstructing the diffusion process
