18. How does plate tectonics solve the "Baja Puzzle"?

16. Name one feature of the "future world" shown on page 47 that is different from our present-day world.

Mantle ction: The Engine of Plate Tectonics 47 BREAKUP OF PANGAEA (f Early Jurassic, 195 Ma 3 The breakup of Pangaea was si by the opening of rifts gnaled from which lava poured. Rock assemblages that are relics of this great event can be found today in 200-million-year-old volcanic rocks fromNova Scotia to North Carolina. PACIFIC OCEAN (g) Late Jurassic 152 Ma PACIFIC OCEAN 4 By about 150 million years ago, Pangaea was in the early stages of breakup. The Atlantic Ocean had partially opened, the Tethys Ocean had contracted, and the northem continents Laurasia) had all but split away from the southem continents (Gondwana). India, Antarctica, and Australia began to split away from Africa. (h) Late Cretaceous, Early Tertiary, 66 Ma 5 By 66 m ion years ago, the South Atlantic had opened and widened. India was well on its way northward toward Asia, and the Tethys Ocean was closing to form the Mediterranean. THE PRESENT DAY AND FUTURE WORLD PRESENT DAY WORLD 6 The modern world has been produced over the past 65 million years. India collided with Asia, ending its trip across the ocean, and is still pushing northward into Asia. Australia has separated from Antarctica. PACIAC 0) 50 million years in the future Antarctica Central Indian Australia

Q18. HOW DOES PLATE TECTONICS SOLVE THE BAJA PUZZLE?

Answer: Plate tectonics are gliding across the earth surface and they undergo certain changes like sliding each other or pulling apart and can also collide. Continuents can neither be destroyed nor created by the process of plate tectonics. In solving the baja jigsaw puzzle, the fossil can be used to locate the tectonic plate location and by practicing this puzzle one can understand the theory of continental movement and plate tectonics and certain hotspots can be used to mark them. All the continent land surfaces and the mountain ranges like Himalayan cam also be marked by hotspots marks which the tectonic plates can solve the baja puzzle.

Q16. FUTURE WORLD ON PAGE 47 WHICH IS DIFFERENT FROM PRESENT DAY WORLD:

Answer: If we can see the pictures on page 47 it clearly display some changes in the present MAP which we are seeing. In the past before some million years all the Continents like America and Africa, Australia, Antarctica and India altogether appeared as a huge land which slowly got separated and boundaries are formed. Which Africa is separated and India collided with Asia, while Australia has also separated from Antarctica. In this process of puzzle earth's surface has be divided into tectonic plates movement and then reassemble the puzzle.

The important feature of the future world display that eventually Africa and Europe collide with Asia resulting in SUPERCONTINENT and named EURASIA. Also Arabian countries along with India will be joining together and small islands join in Australia and new Zealand and they form into a supercontinent with large enormous water bodies surrounding them. All these changes take place in future which is completely different from our present day world.
