Elevation in boiling point

1. Colligative properties are dependent upon the type of solute and the amount of solute added to a solvent. Adding different amount of solute to a solvent results in different volumes of solution. So the molarity of a solution varies with respect to both the solute added and the net solution volume. This is why we do not use molarity for calculating colligative properties as we have two varying factors now. On the other hand molality has only the solute changing and thus directly relates to change in physical property, that is colligative property of the solute.

3. Adding ethanol in water to make a solution would result in elevation of boiling point of water. This is the same effect we see for any solute in water which elevates the biling point in the similar fashion.
