Question

1.Calculate how much carbon dioxide (CO2), called “Green House Gas GHG” you are

      generating per year. Use the table in next slide to calculate the GHG/year.

2. Calculate the thickness of GHG around the world, if the world inhabitants are

     generating CO2 at the same rate that you do.

3. Calculate the amount of heat that is absorbed by the above CO2 layer.

Explanation / Answer

1.The emission of GHG is increasing day by day due to which the temperature also increases day by day.

The GHG emitted per year can be estimated from the table.

Given that the total CO2 emission estimate is 0.22kg CO2/kWh

The average kWh consumed per year is approximately =10812kWh

Now CO2 emission =10812×0.22=2378.2kg/year

2.If the habitants in the world generate GHG at the same rate similar to my consumption then the thickness of GHG would be doubled or tripled than actually existing leading more temperature rise.

3.The amount of heat absorbed by the gases cannot be estimated accurately but it can be estimated to be an approximate value.

The amount of heat absorbed will be = twice the temperature prevailing in earth

If 90degrees are prevailing, then double the time the temperature is 180degrees and now converting it to kelvin,we get 180+273=453k

4.Acidity=1/10 of GHG in ocean.

The ocean water is always basic in nature with pH<7

When the GHG is absorbed, the levels amy become acidic with pH>7

If approximately the GHG dissolved in ocean =100,then the acidity=100/10=10
