Question

The equipment pictured below is available for you to prepare a 0.360 M solution of cobalt (II) chloride from a 6.00 M stock solution. Write the proper name of the equipment in the blanks provided and on the next page describe a step by step procedure using only the equipment above (with proper equipment name) how you would prepare 250.00 ml of the most accurate 0.360 M solution. Include all equations and show your calculations. Please note that some of the equipment may not be used.

Please list steps and equipment used in the experiment along with the calculations!! Thanks!

Explanation / Answer

First, calculate:

M1V1 = M2V2

V1 = M2/M1*V2 = 0.36/6*250 = 15 mL of stock solution required

so..

1)

measure 15 mL of stock solution, with a volumetric pippte

2)

pour 15 mL of soution in a 250 mL beaker

3)

rinse with deionized water bottle the pipette to ensure water flow and all acid is on the beaker

4)

add deionized water to the beaker unitl Volume marks = 250 mL

5)

with an agitation spatulla, agitate to ensure good mixture
