Orbital Resonances. Suppose orbital resonances had never been important anywhere in our solar system--- for example, suppose Jupiter and the asteroids continued to orbit the Sun but did not affect each other through resonances. Describe at least four ways in which our solar system would be different. Which differences do you consider superficial, and which differences are more profound? Consider the effects of orbital resonances discussed both in chapter 11 & 12.Explanation / Answer
resonances between jupiter and asteroid belt are closer to each other.
With orbital resonance, jupiter keeps ejecting the asteroids into other orbit.
The stability of solar system depends on the orbital resonance prevailing between any two objects.
