1. A very fast reaction occur in fraction of second. So in order to know the nature of reactants, how much mole of reactant is needed to get say x mole of product, what intermidiate formed between reactant and the final product etc. reactions are slowed down for better understanding. For example, Ice that freezes too quickly is less clear than ice that freezes slowly. Also, corrosion is slowed down by passivating a metal surface.
