As the ammonium salts of carbonate ,sulfate and phosphates are soluble salts and can react with other metal ions present in the compounds which are used for the flame test to (some of metals which can ) form precipates and hence this salts can be used to detect some other metals or atleast can show some chemical change due to the displacement reaction occured whereas barium salts of these anoins are itself insoluble and becomes precipitate as soon as added to the solution and thus no chemical reaction occurs and hence no such observation .
