Question

You are walking down a hallway in the Benson Building and glance into the open doorway of a lab. You see a student that you do not know, who is not wearing any eye or face protection, using an electric pump to transfer a corrosive liquid from a 5-gallon container on the floor into a reaction vessel located above on the benchtop. Since you don't know the person, and it's not your lab, and you don't know the details of what that individual is doing, and you're in a hurry to get to your next class, you decide to say nothing and continue on your way. The next day, you learn that the student suffered permanent damage to the left cornea and facial chemical burns that will require skin graft surgery to repair. The injuries occurred when the tubing used to transfer the liquid failed and the individual was sprayed in the face with concentrated nitric acid. Using the box below, explain briefly why you are, or are NOT, partially responsible for the injuries.

Explanation / Answer

Yes, I am partially responsible for the injury as I knew that to wear the proper protection during the lab experiments is the primary process, experiment is secondary .I should warn that student. It's everyone's moral duty if you know that another person is doing something wrong and you know it ,so you should make him/her correct in the field of science.
