Question
Laboratory Investigation of Aqueous Chemistry This activity is performed individually, without a lab partner, during three lab periods. In the first session (week 10) students will design their own experiment that investigates some aspect of aqueous chemistry. Students are encouraged to discuss the development of their experimental design with their lab instructor. The experiment must be approved by the lab instructor. It must include more than just simple measurements of pH. will most likely involve titration, possibly centrifugation, possibly spectrophotometry, but other proposals may be acceptable (100 grade points, 2.2S% of the course grade).Explanation / Answer
This experiment is regarding the aqueous chemistry where we will be water as a major solvent.
For these kinds of chemistry generally there are the major experiments that a chemist do generally :
1. UV-Visible spectroscopy
2. Spectrophotometry
3. Conductometric titration
4. Potentiometric titration
5. Centrifugation and so on
As given in guidelines that the selected experiment should be more than pH measurements, so in this case, one can choose
1. UV-Visible spectroscopy
2. Spectrophotometry
Where we can find the concentration of unknown compound using absorbance v/s concentration plot.
